Business Communications Atmosphere
Companies are always looking to improve by finding ways to reduce spending through solutions with a low total cost of ownership. These solutions need to be justified by giving businesses a competitive advantage through improvements in efficiency and therefore productivity as well. Employing a solution that is easy to integrate into existing work flows will allow for greater mobility and in turn better responsiveness. An improvement like this will allow any business to manage their day to day operations more effectively. To accomplish these goals and implement this on a user level, these solutions need to be able to be deployed to the user in a way that utilizes existing applications. Users can meet these goals if the company’s solution allows them to improve communications by giving access to simple, easy to use communication tools to help employees correspond with contacts and coworkers quickly and efficiently.
Mitel's Unified Communication Solution
Mitel has released an application to answer all the needs discussed above in today's business environment. It is simple to use, has flexible deployment options, integrates with many current desktop software applications to increase productivity and has a low total cost of ownership. This solution is the Mitel Unified Communicator (UC) Express.
Easy To Use
The innovative GUI toolbar allows a user access to manage their Mitel IP Phone quickly and simply. The telephony toolbar resides on their PC desktop on the Windows taskbar. This provides the direct access to functions such as caller ID pop up, click-to-dial and single-click transfers and conferencing.
Deployment Flexibility
The ease of installation and configuration provides multiple implementation options. IT personnel can do a corporate wide mass deployment or have the end user simply download and install individually. Thin client environments are also supported including Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 Terminal service and Sun Ray. Road warriors, telecommuters, or as Mitel calls them, teleworkers are even able to have the same access as their office counterparts by using a remote PC or laptop and the Unified Communicator Express Soft phone. This remote connection allows them to continue to make and receive calls all as if they are inside the office on the corporate network.
Seamless Integration
Right out-of-the-box, Unified Communicator Express integrates with Outlook. This allows the user to search-and-dial from Outlook contacts from the telephony toolbar, auto open a contact record based on incoming caller line ID, and create a new Outlook task from incoming calls. UC Express also integrates with Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP directories making corporate contacts accessible and searchable for dialing. Users will also have access to Windows desktop search tool to locate files, e-mails and other records based on incoming caller ID. This can be done automatically or at the click of a button.
The integration of these widely-used applications helps make UC Express a single access point for all communication needs. Companies can be assured that this solution maximizes their existing IT investments increasing their ROI.
Total Cost of Ownership
Besides the benefit of leveraging the integration to desktop applications that are currently being use, Unified Communicator Express reduces cost further by removing the need of an application server. By removing the application server, UC Express has been designed to be advantageously priced for both Enterprises and more importantly, small to Medium sized Business. Without the server, implementation and maintenance is simplified and lowers the total cost of the solution.
Unified Communicator Express allows everyone to take advantage of unified communication solutions at a competitive price point that leverages existing infrastructure to improve business processes for improved efficiency. This maximization of investment in Mitel will help transform the business into a more efficient work environment.
